What the BUD Fund covers
The Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales supports non-listed Hong Kong enterprises developing markets in the Mainland and FTA economies. Eligible expenditure includes branding and marketing — and promotional video generally falls in that category. The fund covers up to 50% of eligible project costs.
Easy BUD vs general application
Easy BUD covers designated measures with a ceiling of HK$100,000 per application and around a 30-working-day processing time. General applications have a higher ceiling but take longer. The cumulative ceiling per enterprise is HK$7 million, and the SME Export Marketing Fund was consolidated into BUD in July 2026.
What you need from a production vendor
For funded work, your documentation has to stand up to audit. That means a formal itemised quotation and a proper invoice with business registration details. Many clients take our itemised quotation straight into their application — audit-ready paperwork is part of what we provide.
We're the production vendor, not a funding consultant
We produce the video and supply the paperwork; we don't file your application or charge a consultant fee. Whether funding is approved is the government's decision based on your company and project plan. Our advice: the video should be worth making on its own — funding is a bonus, not the reason.
Frequently asked
Is promotional video eligible under BUD?+
Branding and marketing expenditure is generally eligible, and video usually falls in that category — for projects developing Mainland or FTA markets. Confirm specifics against the official BUD guidelines.
Do you help us apply?+
We're the production vendor, not a funding consultant. We supply audit-ready itemised quotations and invoices; applications are filed by you or a BUD consultant. We can refer one.
Is funding guaranteed?+
No. Approval is the government's decision based on your company and project. Plan the video to be worth making regardless.
